On December 6th, Western Union is developing a payment card preloaded with stablecoins, designed for high-inflation countries such as Argentina, to help remittance recipients maintain their purchasing power. The company's CFO Matthew Cagwin said it is an extension of existing prepaid cards in the United States and has partnered with Rain to allow users to convert stablecoins into local cash. Western Union also plans to launch its own stablecoin, USDPT, on the Solana network in 2026.
