Google Backs Steel River Energy Center Solar-Storage Project in Arkansas With Cypress Creek Energy

Google said on July 14 that it has started construction of the Steel River Energy Center project in Arkansas with Cypress Creek Energy, which it said will become the largest solar power facility in the U.S. and its biggest solar-and-storage project globally, according to 36Kr. Google will act as an anchor investor and power purchaser for phases one and two, adding 1.6 GW of DC solar generation and 1.9 GWh of energy storage. The full three-phase project is expected to be fully operational in 2029, reaching 2.5 GW of DC solar and 2.9 GWh of storage.
