Media: SoftBank and OpenAI's $500 billion AI project gets off to a rocky start

According to the Wall Street Journal, the White House earlier announced a $500 billion Stargate plan to strengthen U.S. ambitions in artificial intelligence, but the plan has been difficult to get off the ground and has been significantly scaled back in the near future. SoftBank and OpenAI disagree on key terms of the "Stargate" partnership, including the location, according to people familiar with the matter. While the two companies pledged to invest $100 billion "immediately" in their January announcement, the project now sets a more modest goal of building a small data center by the end of the year, possibly in Ohio, the people said.
