The US has launched an investigation into BTC mining giant Bitmain over national security concerns. Operation Red Sunset, which is understood to be led by the US Department of Homeland Security, investigated whether Bitmain's mining rigs could be used for espionage or power grid disruption in the US. Bitmain has denied having any remote control capabilities and said the company "strictly complies with US and applicable laws and regulations and has never engaged in any activity that poses a risk to US national security", saying claims that it can remotely control equipment are "absolutely false".
