Two Hyundai Group buildings in South Korea were evacuated on Friday after bomb threats. An anonymous caller demanded 13 bitcoins as a ransom in exchange for cancelling the threatened attack. Special forces searched the buildings and found no explosives.
Singaporean authorities, including the Singapore cyber security agency, have issued a joint warning to alert local businesses to the growing threat of Akira ransomware variants. The ransomware Akira, which stole $42 million from more than 250 organisations in North America, Europe and Australia in a year, is now aggressively targeting businesses in Singapore, the warning said.
