On September 19, Federal Reserve Chairperson Jerome Powell said in a news conference that the central bank's forecast of the path of interest rate cuts does not mean it is an urgent process. "There is nothing [in the summary of economic forecasts] that suggests the committee is eager to get this done," Powell said of the pace at which the central bank may cut interest rates. But he added that data will drive monetary policy choices and that rate cuts will be made faster or slower as needed.
