Berkshire Hathaway held a record $397.4 billion in cash and short-term Treasuries in the first quarter of 2026, enough to buy almost any single S&P 500 company. According to BeInCrypto, the reserve rose from $373 billion at the end of 2025 as the firm sold more stocks than it bought for 14 straight quarters. Greg Abel, in his first quarter as CEO after Warren Buffett stepped back, has started deploying capital with an $8.5 billion Taylor Morrison deal and a $31 billion Alphabet stake.
