Base engineer Eric Liu said Base v2 snapshots are now live. According to Foresight News, the mainnet snapshot size has fallen from about 7 TB to about 3.2 TB thanks to new sharding and higher compression, while sync time has been reduced from about 5 hours to about 2 hours, and pruned node size is about 1 TB.
GitHub release base/node v1.2.0 has been upgraded to Reth v2.3.0 and now formally supports V2 snapshots. Node operators must update to this version and migrate their databases to v2 storage. The release also fixes an issue that affected pruned nodes syncing from the genesis block. The official reminder said node operators should complete the migration before the MDBX hard limit deadline in mid-August.
