South Koreans Oppose Single-Stock Leveraged ETF Launch in Realmeter Poll

A Realmeter survey conducted on July 22 found that South Korean adults held a largely negative view of the introduction of single-stock leveraged ETFs. According to Odaily, 63.7% of the 504 respondents aged 18 and older said it was the wrong decision, including 41.2% who called it very wrong and 22.5% who said it was generally wrong.

The poll also found that 19.0% of respondents thought the decision was correct, while 17.4% said they were unsure. Regarding supplementary measures announced by South Korea’s financial regulators on the 16th, 59.2% said they were not sufficient.

Among proposed additional measures, limiting the number of daily trades drew the most support at 24.1%. Raising the base margin requirement sharply followed at 22.2%, then increasing the minimum trading unit requirement at 21.5%, and extending mandatory investor education time at 10.6%.
