According to BeInCrypto, Gogioso said even a 2% chance of failure by 2030 could justify action, while Herrmann said estimates for practical quantum computing have shortened rapidly.
The panel cited Google research suggesting Bitcoin’s elliptic-curve cryptography could require fewer than 500,000 physical qubits to break, and said migration to quantum-resistant cryptography could take years.
