American Airlines Cuts 2026 Earnings Outlook on Higher Fuel Costs

According to CNBC, American Airlines cut its 2026 earnings outlook after warning that higher fuel costs are weighing on results, sending shares of the airline down in premarket trading Thursday. The carrier said it now sees adjusted earnings per share ranging from a loss of 65 cents to a profit of 65 cents this year, down from its April view for a loss of 40 cents to a profit of $1.10 a share. American also reported second-quarter adjusted earnings of 15 cents per share, topping the 3 cents expected by analysts surveyed by LSEG, while revenue came in at $16.74 billion versus an estimated $16.71 billion.
