GM To Launch New Gas-Powered Cadillac Models Starting Next Spring

According to CNBC, General Motors will begin launching next-generation gas-powered Cadillac vehicles starting next spring and continuing into 2028, as the automaker further pulls back from all-electric plans. GM CEO Mary Barra said the lineup will include new versions of the CT5 sedan, XT5 midsize SUV and the discontinued three-row XT6 SUV, alongside Cadillac’s current all-electric crossovers and Escalade SUV. GM had previously planned for Cadillac to sell only electric vehicles by the end of this decade, but it has since scaled back EV plans across other brands and increased gas-powered engine production, including V-8 offerings. The company has booked $10.9 billion in EV-related charges since the second half of last year after slower-than-expected EV adoption and U.S. regulatory changes. Barra also said GM plans to begin onshoring significant manufacturing next year, partly by expanding production of its full-size SUVs to a Michigan plant that had been slated to make EVs.
