According to Yonhap, Bank of Korea Governor Shin Hyun-song will travel to Singapore later this week to attend meetings of top central bankers from the East Asia and Pacific region and discuss recent financial issues. The Bank of Korea said Shin will exchange views with governors of 10 other central banks at the Executives' Meeting of East Asia and Pacific Central Banks, or EMEAP, from Wednesday to Friday on the impact of artificial intelligence on the financial system and current economic issues.
The BOK added that Shin will also attend the EMEAP Governors' and Financial Supervisors' Meeting, where participants are expected to discuss financial institutions' AI adoption, the financial impact of supply chain disruptions and policy responses. The EMEAP was founded in 1991 to promote monetary cooperation and information sharing among 11 central banks in the region, including South Korea, Japan, China, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
