According to CNBC, the latest All-America Economic Survey found 61% of U.S. adults are pessimistic about the current economy and the outlook ahead, the highest share since December 2023. Only 25% said they are optimistic, while 47% reported cutting back on essential items such as food and medical care and two-thirds said they are reducing nonessential purchases.

The survey of 1,000 adults, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1%, also showed President Donald Trump’s net approval at 40% and his economy approval at 38%, while 59% disapproved of his overall performance. Democrats held a 4-point lead on congressional preference, unchanged from April, and voters ranked the cost of food and groceries as the top issue.
