The US sanctioned four crypto wallets tied to Iran’s Central Bank this week, and Tether froze $131 million in USDT held in them within hours. According to BeInCrypto, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the freeze after OFAC added four Tron addresses to the bank’s existing designation, while Chainalysis data showed the wallets had received more than $165 million in stablecoins.
Tether’s action follows earlier freezes and comes as Circle says it only acts under a strict legal process.
