Some fund management firms have submitted application materials to issue actively managed ETFs, according to 36Kr. Actively managed ETFs are exchange-traded open-end funds in which the manager selects the investment strategy independently, does not aim to track a specific index, and lists the ETF for trading on an exchange.

Earlier, China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) Chairman Wu Qing said at the 2026 Lujiazui Forum that regulators would support the launch of actively managed ETFs on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges. On the same day, the Shanghai Stock Exchange issued business guidelines for actively managed exchange-traded open-end securities investment funds, and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange released Guideline No. 5 for securities investment funds covering actively managed ETFs; both took effect upon release.
