The United Nations representative to Lebanon, Jean Arnault, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Aragchi in Tehran for consultations on state affairs.

According to Jin10, Arnault assessed the situation in Lebanon and the United Nations’ efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and end regional war. He said he hoped that implementing a U.S.-Iran ceasefire memorandum of understanding and strengthening cooperation among regional countries would help achieve lasting peace and security in the region, including Lebanon.

Aragchi strongly condemned what he described as illegal U.S. attacks on Iran, violations related to arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz, and Israel’s continued military aggression and terrorist activities against Lebanon. He said the United States should be responsible for the dangerous consequences of escalating tensions and stressed that the United Nations should take a clear and firm stance against what he called U.S. aggression.

Aragchi also reaffirmed Iran’s full support for the Lebanese people, Lebanon’s territorial integrity, and national sovereignty, and said Iran would continue to seek an end to Israel’s aggression and occupation of Lebanon.
