Belgium made a last-minute change to their starting XI for their World Cup quarter-final against Spain after captain Youri Tielemans was forced out with an injury and replaced by Club Brugge midfielder Hans Vanaken 12 minutes before kick-off, according to Yahoo Sports. Belgium said Tielemans was hurt during the warm-up, with the injury reported as a hamstring issue.
Tielemans had been set to start alongside Nicolas Raskin in midfield. Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku returned to the lineup after being left out of the win over co-hosts USA, while Spain reached the quarter-finals by beating Portugal. The winner in Los Angeles will face France after Didier Deschamps’ side beat Morocco on Thursday.
