Calbee said on July 9 that it will restore full-color printing for packaging on some products sold in Japan, reversing a recent switch to black-and-white designs, according to 36Kr. In May, the snack maker changed packaging after naphtha supply became unstable amid heightened Middle East tensions, as naphtha is used as a raw material for printing ink. Calbee said production will begin switching during the week of July 27, with products using the updated packaging to roll out sequentially afterward, while the company continues to monitor supply conditions and pursue resource savings.
