According to Lianhe Zaobao, US military officials said Thursday that US forces struck about 90 Iranian military targets in the latest round of airstrikes, including air defense systems and missile and drone storage sites. In a statement posted on social media on July 9, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the US carried out a new round of attacks on Iran on July 8 aimed at further degrading Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping and civilian crews in the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM also said US forces struck about 80 targets on Tuesday, July 7, including more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small fast boats, in response to what it described as Iran’s violation of a ceasefire agreement and attacks on three merchant ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
