StarkWare said the Starknet v0.14.3 upgrade will go live on the mainnet today at 16:10 (UTC+8), with expected downtime of no more than eight minutes. According to Foresight News, the upgrade is intended to improve network performance, optimize fee fairness, and strengthen infrastructure.

StarkWare said key changes include reducing block time to 1.5 seconds from 2 seconds to lower network latency. It also replaces the Pedersen algorithm with BLAKE for the operating system configuration hash in Starknet core contracts, which the company described as another step on its quantum-era roadmap.

The upgrade introduces a dynamic L2 gas base fee mechanism under the SNIP-35 protocol to make pricing more adaptive during network congestion. In addition, Keccak support will be added for client proofs.

StarkWare said developers and infrastructure operators should upgrade full nodes to the latest recommended versions, Juno 0.16.4 or Pathfinder 0.22.7. It added that validator nodes running SNIP-36 proof generation services should complete upgrades during the downtime.

The company also said applications should switch to RPC 0.9 or RPC 0.10.1, and recommended completing node upgrades before release to avoid gas estimation errors caused by updates to StorageRead and StorageWrite gas costs.
