A U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) official said the agency receives roughly 200 exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications each month and is reviewing potential changes to its approval process.
According to NS3.AI, Brian Daly, an official in the SEC’s Division of Investment Management, said the SEC is studying a stronger approval framework for ETF applications.
Daly added that the agency is considering allowing confidential filings for some ETF applications as part of that review.
