Steve Clarke has resigned as Scotland head coach after the Scots failed to get out of a World Cup group containing Brazil, Morocco and Haiti, according to Yahoo Sports. The 62-year-old told players at their hotel in Charlotte on Saturday night that he was ending his seven-year stint, despite having recently signed a new four-year contract. Napoli midfielder Billy Gilmour, who missed the tournament with a knee injury suffered in a warm-up win over Curacao, posted a tribute calling Clarke “more than just a manager,” while Lewis Ferguson and goalkeeper Craig Gordon also paid tribute on social media.
