Spain eliminated Uruguay with a 1-0 win Friday night, and the result sent Cape Verde into the knockout rounds in its first World Cup appearance, according to Yahoo Sports. Alex Baena scored in the 42nd minute after Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera let his shot slip off his hands and into the net, and Uruguay coach Marcelo Bielsa substituted Muslera at halftime for Sergio Rochet.

Cape Verde clinched second place in Group H by drawing Saudi Arabia 0-0, while Spain won the group with seven points. Cape Verde finished second, Uruguay third with two points and Saudi Arabia fourth with one. Cape Verde is scheduled to play Argentina on July 3 in Miami, and Spain will face the Group J runner-up on July 2 in Los Angeles.
