SoftBank Group Chairman Masayoshi Son said on June 24 that he is in talks to sign a memorandum of understanding with a customer for a development plan in Ohio in the US, according to 36Kr. Son said that if the plan is ultimately finalized, “this single business” would generate substantial profits.
Addressing data centers’ power consumption, Son said SoftBank’s SB Energy is advancing an Ohio data center project, and that a single facility would supply power equivalent to 10 nuclear power plants. He also said the company aims to build the world’s largest data center.
