MetaMask said a post published on-chain under the name “MetaMask.eth” that mocked the theft of “Jaredfromsubway.eth” was not sent by the company.
According to Foresight News, MetaMask said the message came from an unrelated third party that controls an ENS account using the capitalized version, “MetaMask.eth.”
MetaMask said its official ENS name is the all-lowercase “metamask.eth.”
The company added that because ENS allows both uppercase and lowercase versions to exist and many platforms display names in lowercase by default, some observers mistakenly believed the message came from MetaMask’s official account.
