Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said he feels “calm” about competition with OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman, arguing that the two companies have different visions and do not trust each other, according to a recent interview.
According to ChainCatcher, citing a Business Insider report, Amodei said disputes are pointless when there is no shared vision and mutual trust, and that each company should follow its own path while markets and public opinion ultimately judge outcomes.
Amodei also said the AI industry should develop standards led by “trustworthy participants” to pressure less trustworthy peers to comply.
He added that he has known Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis for 15 years and said they maintain close cooperation and trust on computing power procurement and safety approaches, pushing back on claims that distrust is pervasive across the AI sector.
