Fed meeting notes no urgency to end quantitative tightening

Some analysts believe the September meeting notes may indicate that Fed officials are beginning to consider ending the tapering of the balance sheet amid tighter funding markets, institutional analysts noted. But judging from the meeting notes, there is little sign that the topic is being fully discussed. At the September meeting, staff at the New York Fed told officials that bank reserves would fall to about $2.80 trillion by the end of Quarter 1, 2026, suggesting there is no urgency to end quantitative tightening at the next meeting or two. Officials did say it is "important to continue to closely monitor money market conditions".
