2025-09-17 20:21:52
Federal Reserve Chairperson Jerome Powell said the central bank is approaching, but not yet reaching, the point at which it needs to stop its long-running quantitative tightening measures to shrink its balance sheet. Mr. Powell noted that reserves in the financial system remain plentiful and "we are approaching" the point at which the Fed will be able to stop shrinking its cash and bond holdings, but that the current reduction is fairly small and will not have a broader impact on the economy.
