French regulator slaps record fine of 325 million euros on Google

French data protection authorities on Wednesday fined the US search giant Google a record 325 million euros ($380 million) for failing to comply with internet cookie rules. The regulator said Google was fined for "displaying ads between Gmail users' emails without their consent and placing cookies without the user's valid consent when creating a Google account".
