U.S. stocks close: The three major stock indexes rose and fell differently

U.S. stocks closed Wednesday with the Dow edging lower, the S & P 500 down 0.5 percent and the Nasdaq up 1 percent. American Bitcoin, a bitcoin miner linked to the Trump family, closed up 16 percent, Google (GOOG. O) rose 9 percent and Apple (AAPL. O) rose 3.8 percent.
