According to Politico, Jia Cobb, the judge who will rule on Mr. Trump's attempt to fire Federal Reserve Governor Tim Cook, has struck down another of Mr. Trump's signature moves to expand presidential power: mass deportations of immigrants. Mr. Cobb was nominated to federal court in 2021 by former President Joe Biden. Earlier this month, in an 84-page ruling, Mr. Cobb blocked the Trump administration's plan to fast-track deportations of hundreds of thousands of immigrants fleeing violence or persecution in their home countries. Ms. Cobb, who will preside over the first phase of Mr. Cook's lawsuit, has scheduled a hearing for Friday at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. But she will almost certainly not be the final arbiter, and any ruling could be appealed to the federal appeals court for the District of Columbia and eventually to the Supreme Court.
