On August 9, Dong Lijuan, chief statistician of the Urban Division of the National Bureau of Statistics, said that in July, the effect of the policy of expanding domestic demand continued to appear. The consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.4% from a decrease of 0.1% in the previous month to an increase of 0.4%, which was flat year-on-year. The core CPI excluding food and energy prices rose by 0.8% year-on-year, expanding for three consecutive months.
