On April 10, Trump said he had been approached by more than 75 countries to negotiate a reduction in tariffs. "I have authorized a 90-day suspension [of tariffs] and during that time a significant reduction in reciprocal tariffs to 10%, also effective immediately," Trump wrote. Trump's so-called "reciprocal" tariffs went into effect at 00:01am EST on Wednesday and were suspended less than 13 hours after they went into effect. Trump and his key advisers have insisted for days that his tariff policy will not change. Earlier on Wednesday, Trump issued a message advising: "Be calm! Everything will be fine." But since Trump announced plans to impose tariffs on April 2, stock and commodity markets have tumbled. < b > It is not clear from Trump's post which tariffs will be suspended.
