In the hard-line retail sector, industry players expect suppliers, retailers and consumers to bear the additional costs from tariffs roughly equally, but that trend won't happen in a linear fashion, UBS analysts said in a research note. "The higher the tariff, the more likely it is that the increased costs will be borne by consumers," analysts said, adding that the average household will need to absorb about $775 in retail price increases. Given that about two-thirds of U.S. households have annual incomes of $100,000 or less, such costs could be significant for most households, analysts said. (Jin Ten)
