On March 30, according to NBC coverage, US President Donald Trump said Saturday that he did not warn auto industry executives not to raise prices when tariffs on foreign-made cars take effect, and that he "doesn't care at all" if they do. Trump said his permanent tariffs on foreign-made cars would boost US factories and believes the move will lead to increased sales of American-made cars. "I want them to raise prices because if they do, people will buy American-made cars." Trump insisted that he would only consider negotiating tariffs "if people are willing to give us something of value."
