According to Eric Conner, a co-sponsor of the Ethereum EIP-1559 proposal, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued a subpoena to Coinbase in connection with the Polymarket case, demanding that Coinbase provide information related to some of its customers.
In an email to customers, Coinbase said: "You are not required to take any action, but Coinbase may be required to send the Commodity Futures Trading Commission information related to your account pursuant to a subpoena unless, by the close of business on January 15, 2025, Coinbase formally receives a motion to rescind the subpoena or other legal document preventing Coinbase from sharing such information."
