Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi Delivers Video Opening Address at WebX 2026 in Tokyo

Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi delivered a video opening address at WebX 2026 in Tokyo on July 13.

According to Odaily, Takaichi congratulated organizers on the event and said Web3, described as a next-generation internet ecosystem based on blockchain technology, is advancing in social implementation and attracting participants from around the world.

Takaichi said she had heard the conference drew about 15,000 attendees and described it as Asia’s largest Web3 event. She said many startups participated and that the event included activities connecting startups with investors, describing it as a platform for business cooperation and networking.

She also said her new cabinet places importance on fostering startups. Takaichi said that in May this year, Japan introduced a policy package aimed at strengthening the “five-year plan for startup development.”

She said she believes the implementation of these measures, together with support from WebX 2026, will further promote startup development and encourage innovation challenges across fields.

Takaichi concluded by wishing attendees future success and expressing hopes for the conference’s successful completion.
