Four U.S. states have jointly sued Meta, alleging the company used addictive algorithms to steer minors toward excessive use and concealed negative impacts on teenagers' mental health, seeking up to $1.4 trillion in damages; a total of 29 U.S. states have filed related lawsuits, according to 36Kr. Separately, the European Commission issued a preliminary report under the Digital Services Act demanding Meta change potentially addictive design features such as autoplay and infinite scroll, or face fines of up to 6% of its global annual revenue. Meta denied the allegations and said it will continue to fight the claims.
