The Singapore Police Force released data on fraud and cybercrime in the first half of 2025 and disclosed new trends in fraud involving cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrencies accounted for 17.9% of the total losses in fraud cases. According to statistics, the three currencies with the highest losses were Tether (about 46.80 million US dollars), Bitcoin (about 20 million US dollars) and Ethereum (about 7.60 million US dollars), accounting for 91.2% of cryptocurrency losses. Most of the cryptocurrency victims are 30 to 49 years old, and the most common scams are job hunting, investment and impersonation of government officials. Most of the victims opened cryptocurrency accounts under the guidance of scammers. Others were tricked into clicking phishing links or leaking mnemonic words.
