The National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR), a US think-tank, has proposed that Amazon add bitcoin to its financial reserves. The NCPPR believes that bitcoin can be used as a hedge against currency depreciation, but it is still uncertain whether Amazon will adopt a more innovative strategy.
Ethan Peck, deputy director of NCPPR's free enterprise program, said Microsoft had a "fiduciary duty" to do what was in the financial interests of its shareholders, and that boycotting bitcoin could go against those interests. If Microsoft ultimately decides not to invest in bitcoin and the price of bitcoin rises, Microsoft could risk being sued by shareholders.
