US Senator Lummis has proposed that the government use gold certificates to buy bitcoin to reduce the burden of national debt
U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis said on CoinDesk Spotlight that if the U.S. government purchases bitcoin using gold certificates with carrying value still calculated in 1974, "we will be able to cut the national debt in half in 20 years." Lummis stressed: "We don't need to spend new taxpayer funds to buy bitcoin."
