Paolo Ardoino, Tether's chief executive, wrote again on the X platform in response to the FUD investigation: "At Tether, we often deal directly with law enforcement officials to help prevent the misuse of USDt by rogue states, terrorists and criminals. If we were investigated as falsely claimed in the [Wall Street Journal] article, we would know. Based on this, we can confirm that the allegations in the article are absolutely false."
Previously, the Wall Street Journal reported that people familiar with the matter revealed that the federal government is investigating whether cryptocurrency company Tether may violate sanctions and anti-money laundering regulations. The US Treasury has considered imposing sanctions on Tether, the issuer of stablecoin USDT.
