Of 191 US bankers surveyed by Arizent, publisher of American Banker, 59 per cent said Kamala Harris, the Democratic frontrunner, was the most likely to win the election. Some 41 per cent of bankers polled thought former president Donald Trump would be the winner in November.
Nonetheless, 58% of bankers surveyed thought the Trump administration would be better for industries and individual companies, while 35% thought Harris would be better for the banking industry. The same view was found in similar questions about which election outcome would bring the best results for regulatory and policy matters, as well as for the country as a whole.
