The former CEO of Australian cryptocurrency exchange Mine Digital is facing a fraud charge for allegedly stealing $1.47 million (2.20 million Australian dollars) from a customer who had tried to exchange funds for bitcoin.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) said in a statement on October 21 that Mine Digital customers paid ACCE Australia $1.50 million but never received the cryptocurrency.
ASIC accused Colthup of either using the funds to pay off ACCE's debts, or to purchase cryptocurrency for others, or both.
