On April 7th, White House National Security Spokesperson John Kirby stated in an interview with ABC on the 24th that the reduction in Israeli military forces in the southern Gaza Strip seems to be for "rest and adjustment" and does not necessarily mean any new actions. "Based on our understanding, through their public statements, this is actually just to allow these troops to rest and adjust... We may not necessarily see that these troops are about to take new actions," Kirby said when asked about the Israeli military's move. Six months after the conflict between Hamas and Israel, the Israeli military earlier announced a reduction in its troops in southern Gaza, leaving only one brigade.
