Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed new rules to allow mutual funds and Private Offering Funds to invest in digital assets, aiming to keep pace with international developments and respond to growing interest from institutional investors. A draft proposal released on Wednesday is seeking public feedback on revisions to the standards for digital asset investment funds.
The regulator pointed out that while Thai investors can already purchase cryptocurrency ETFs abroad, the current framework for mutual funds, which has been in place since 2015, has not kept pace with changes in overseas digital asset investments.
