OpenAI on Tuesday sought the dismissal of a federal lawsuit against the company by Elon Musk, two months after Mr. Musk filed a lawsuit accusing OpenAI of abandoning its founding mission to develop open artificial intelligence platforms "for the benefit of humanity" in favour of maximising profits.
In a motion to dismiss filed in federal court in California, OpenAI said Mr. Musk's lawsuit was the latest in a "growing campaign to harass OpenAI for its own competitive advantage". The OpenAI filing noted that Mr. Musk had since launched his own artificial intelligence start-up, xAI, and claimed he was "trying to use the judicial system" to gain a competitive advantage in the field.
Musk has yet to comment on the document.
