Working Group Meeting on Maritime Military Security Consultation Mechanism between China and the United States

From April 3rd to 4th, the Chinese and American militaries held a working group meeting on the 2024 China US Maritime Military Security Consultation Mechanism in Hawaii, USA. This meeting aims to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state and promote the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of military relations between the two countries. On the basis of equality and respect, both sides had candid and constructive exchanges on the current situation of sea and air security between China and the United States. They evaluated the implementation of the "Code of Conduct for the Safety of Sea and Air Encounters between China and the United States" since the 2021 China US Maritime Military Security Consultation Mechanism meeting and discussed measures to improve maritime military security issues between China and the United States. During this period, China pointed out that the safety of ships and aircraft is inseparable from national security, and China firmly opposes any harm to China's sovereignty and security under the pretext of freedom of navigation and overflight. The Chinese military will continue to respond to all dangerous provocations in accordance with the law and regulations, firmly safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights, and maintain regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
