Former US President Donald Trump's sentencing trial, originally scheduled for September 18, has been postponed until November 26 by New York Judge Juan Melkan. Melkan said the delay was to ensure justice and fairness in the trial and avoid the upcoming presidential election interfering with the sentencing process. He noted that public trust in the justice system required sentencing hearings to be able to focus on jury decisions and not be interfered with by elections.
Trump was previously convicted in May of 34 counts of falsifying business records related to hush money he paid to porn star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign.
